The Sullivan County purchasing and central services office provided its monthly report to the Government Services Committee, reporting five completed bids, 13 requests for proposals (RFPs) outstanding, six issued bids and eight contracts executed during the reporting period. Staff also said they processed 216 purchase orders.
The report listed procurement work under way, including geosynthetic material for the Department of Public Works, elevator renovations, custodial cleaning, oil and lubricants for DPW and elevator-related work tied to motorized trolleys and warehouse equipment. Staff said they had bids and RFPs out for chemicals and maintenance, lawn mowing for 2025, and transfer-station disposal work.
A committee member asked whether the county could attract more local bidders rather than out-of-town vendors. Purchasing staff said the office advertises in local papers, posts opportunities on the county website and sends solicitations to any interested parties, and the office "do[es] our best" to attract local firms.
Committee members thanked staff for prompt work on an emergency dishwasher repair at the adult care center and noted that staff coordinated contract revisions with vendors to speed repairs.
No procurement decisions or contract awards were made at the meeting; the purchasing office reported operational activity and ongoing solicitations.
