The proclamation, read aloud at the meeting, cited the role of local and state emergency managers, community leaders, and federal partners in preparing for, responding to, recovering from and mitigating emergencies and disasters. The proclamation text referenced the national preparedness goal and the mission areas of prevention, protection, mitigation, response and recovery.
Bill, an emergency management staff member who accepted the proclamation on behalf of the county team, thanked the board, county administration and community partners. “I—m only the leader of this team,” Bill said, adding his gratitude to the professional emergency management staff and volunteers who support the county. He also credited partnerships with private-sector and other community agencies for helping Osceola County recover and become more resilient.
The board moved and seconded the proclamation and approved it by voice vote; commissioners answered "Aye."
