The Select Board approved the consent agenda that included authorization to execute final documents for the library heat pump incentive, acceptance of a bid for a used plow truck and several personnel actions.
Town Administrator Nate explained the library heat pump installation is complete and the town is eligible for a $26,845 Mass Save incentive payable to the contractor. The board authorized the town administrator to execute final documents and approve payment of that incentive.
On the plow truck, the town authorized purchase of a used plow truck through a procurement process required by Chapter 30B. The accepted bid was $185,000 for the truck from Bill’s Used Autos, plus approximately $15,000 estimated for radios and communications equipment. Staff said the procurement ran its required public bid window and received only a single compliant response; the purchase will be executed under the town meeting-authorized debt exclusion.
The personnel and committee actions approved included a resignation effective Aug. 14 (Brenda McDonald, DPW truck driver/laborer), a part-time police officer appointment (Nicholas Melnadi, $23.46/hr, effective Aug. 2025), a wage authorization for a firefighter/EMT on-call (Isaiah Gonzalez, $17.43/hr), and a resignation from the Quabbin Regional School Committee (Joseph Afonso, effective Aug. 2025). Minutes for June 16 and July 21 were also approved in separate motions.
The board voted to authorize the town administrator to sign final documents and to approve the personnel actions by a single motion, which carried by voice vote.
