Eau Claire planning panel backs council's four Century Code amendments on trees and bike parking

The City of Eau Claire Plan Commission voted 6-0 Aug. 4 to recommend the four Century Code/LDO amendments the City Council passed July 22, which primarily relax tree-preservation requirements for small residential lots and create a simplified permit option, and to change bicycle-parking proximity for commercial entrances.

City staff presenter Mr. Noel summarized the package as four items, saying the set "three relate to tree preservation, and one is bicycle parking access where bike racks are close to the proximity of an entrance to a structure." The amendments were brought back to the commission under the state-mandated "repeal and replace" process after council modifications.
