Geary County schedules budget work session, finance director recommends reserving I‑70 land payment for roads

Finance director Tammy Robinson reported the county posted $1,618.75 to a public‑works miscellaneous reimbursement account to cover fence and dirt work, and posted $28,037 to the county's capital improvement project (CIP) fund for the land portion. Robinson asked commissioners whether the county should reserve the $28,037 for roads, noting the payment originated from an activity tied to highway right‑of‑way.
"I think it makes sense to fit in with the roads since that's where it came from," Robinson said. Commissioners agreed and Robinson said she would reserve the amount in CIP as directed.
Budget and CIP timing
Robinson said the county will review budget materials during a scheduled budget work session on the following day, and that the quarterly CIP meeting had been rescheduled for the next Monday at 12:45 p.m. She also said department heads were notified to attend that session.
Sports complex and other items
Robinson said she had sent material about sports complex funds to the commission and that the commission had decided to put the item on a separate agenda for further discussion. She also noted she was continuing work on the overall budget, providing statistics on benefits and payroll for use in an upcoming work session.
