Churchill County Library board approves interim director pay, narrows hiring process and schedules in-person interviews

The Churchill County Library Board of Trustees voted to approve a professional services agreement to retain Patsy Penny Esposito as interim director at $2,000 per month until a permanent director is appointed, and laid out next steps for hiring a permanent director.

The board also agreed to trust county human resources to form a review team to vet applicants and return a shortlist of three to five finalists — with a preference for three — for in-person interviews. Board members and legal counsel emphasized that the HR-led vetting step is intended to avoid creating a board-appointed committee that might be subject to Nevada open meeting law requirements.

"The agenda was posted on July 17 between the hours of 2 and 5 at all the locations listed on the agenda in accordance with statutes," Crystal Miciano, administrative staff, said at the start of the meeting.
