The Aurora Planning and Zoning Commission on July 23 voted 7-0 to recommend that Aurora City Council approve a zoning map amendment to rezone about 242 acres known as Sandy Point in Ward 2 from Adams County A-3 agricultural to Airport District (AD).
City planner Rasheed Raba presented the staff report, saying the parcel is roughly two miles east of Jackson Gap Street and is bordered on the south and east by Aurora city land already zoned AD. Raba said the application is consistent with the Aurora comprehensive plan, which designates the area as an “industrial hub” place type. He told commissioners that five existing property owners and two registered neighborhood organizations were notified and that no public comments were received during the review or when hearing notices were posted.
