Davis County Conservatives schedule meetings; local candidate announces run for county clerk

At a public meeting of the Davis County Conservatives, organizers asked attendees to sign an email list, noted upcoming speakers and local events, and said the group will meet on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. The organizer encouraged members to bring friends to future meetings and to participate in local mobilization activities.

Meeting host Tina (identified in the meeting as the organizer) highlighted upcoming topics and community events, including a talk on artificial intelligence at the next meeting and the annual Freedom's Light Festival at Bountiful City Park. Tina asked newcomers to sign a contact sheet and noted the group accepts small donations for minor expenses.

During the meeting, Jonna Whitesides of Syracuse announced she will run for county clerk. “I live in Syracuse, and I'm going to run for county clerk,” Whitesides said. She told the meeting she would seek to “bring a better level of transparency” to the clerk’s office and to address data security and privacy in election administration. Whitesides said legislation on election security she supported stalled in the most recent legislative session.

Organizers also mentioned volunteer mobilization efforts such as signature gathering for local referenda and outreach on local campaigns. A small number of practical community items were raised during the meeting — a group honey order (one gallon for $46) and reminders to sign the contact clipboard — and attendees were encouraged to attend a rally at the State Capitol concerning a recently publicized criminal case.

No formal government actions, endorsements, or votes were taken at the meeting.
