New high school principal emphasizes CTE, academics, arts and athletics to Levan council

The new principal of the regional high school introduced himself at the Aug. 25 Levan Town Council meeting and outlined his priorities for students: competitive athletics, strong academics, performing and fine arts, and career and technical education (CTE). He said CTE is an important pathway to prepare students for local careers — electricians, plumbers, accountants and marketing — and said he intends to advocate for programs that help graduates return to the county to work.
The principal described 35 years of experience in education, including about 30 years as an administrator in Salt Lake-area schools and time at Copper Hills and Herriman High School. He said he is a local who moved back to the region, is a strong student advocate, and expects to be an “aggressive” proponent for the school when seeking resources or partnerships with Snow College and local businesses.
Why it matters: For small communities the high school—s program mix often affects local workforce development and retention. The principal said he wants to prepare students for industry and certification pathways so graduates can return to the county.
No council action was taken; the appearance was an introduction and opportunity for questions and community welcome.
