Utah County holds public hearing on 2025 midyear budget adjustments; approves donation and new environmental health position, delays efficiency director

At a county commission meeting, Utah County commissioners held a public hearing on proposed midyear amendments to the 2025 budget, approved acceptance of a donation for county use and authorized a new environmental health program director position; they postponed action on funding a temporary director of efficiency.

County finance staff described the budget adjustments as a midyear reset after property- and sales-tax collections for a portion of the year. Jeremy, county finance staff and the budget presenter, said the county has seen “some softening in sales tax revenue” and described the package as internal reallocations rather than an increase to the county’s overall budget: “there’s no increase to the budget. It's just moving dollars between different funds.” He said adjustments also address internal service fund estimates, transfer restricted funds to pay completed capital projects and change internal-service methodologies raised in recent audit discussions.
