Board approves consent agenda, two contract releases, general fund statement and 20¢ meal-price increase

The Grand Forks School Board on Aug. — at a regular meeting — approved its consent agenda and took four other formal actions, including two contract releases and a 20¢ increase to several school meal prices.

The board approved the consent agenda by roll call. The board then approved the administrative recommendation to grant Lindsay Hansen a release from her 2025–26 teaching contract, effective Aug. 8, 2025, with enforcement of liquidated damages under policy d k b b. The board also approved a waiver of liquidated damages and release for Justin Lille, effective Aug. 7, 2025, under the same policy, with administrators saying the Lille departure was related to relocation and that personnel details were not discussed publicly.

The board approved the general fund financial statement for the period July 1–31, 2025. Finance staff cautioned that July comparisons to the prior year reflect timing differences in state revenue receipts and that the large year-over-year jumps in the first-month report are largely a timing artifact.

Finally, the board approved an administrative recommendation to raise elementary breakfast and lunch, secondary breakfast and lunch, and the adult breakfast price by 20¢ each. Administrators said the meal fund (Fund 50) remains healthy but had not raised prices since the 2018 school year; the 20¢ increase is intended as a modest step to keep pace with food costs.

Where action came from

Administrators presented memos and recommendations in the board packet for each item. The Hansen and Lille resignations were accompanied by letters of resignation and an administrative recommendation referencing enforcement or waiver of liquidated damages under policy d k b b. The financial statement was presented by Mister Baumbach; administrators noted state revenue timing made July-to-July comparisons appear large. The meal-price change came from the child nutrition director and finance staff, who noted Fund 50 is separate from the district's general operations and that prices had not been increased since 2018.
