ACC reviews eight OPR cases: most allegations unfounded; three officers face administrative actions

The St. Mary's County Administrative Charging Committee reviewed eight OPR case determinations at the Police Accountability Board meeting on Aug. 21, 2025. The ACC found the majority of allegations unfounded or not administratively charged and recommended limited administrative discipline in a small number of matters.

Chairman Nick Cromwell read synopses and signed determination letters for each case on behalf of the ACC. Key outcomes summarized by case identifier follow.

- OPR 20243469 (incident 08/05/2023; complaint 06/19/2024; Point Lookout Road and Camp Cosima Road): Three officers involved. Allegations included discrimination, constitutional violations, search-and-seizure concerns and body-worn camera (BWC) activation. The ACC concluded the allegations were unfounded except for a technical BWC violation by one officer for failing to reactivate the camera after retrieving the complainant's helmet. The ACC classified the BWC lapse as a Class A procedural violation and recommended formal written counseling.
