Policy committee introduces new sunscreen policy allowing students to bring sunscreen with permission

The policy committee reported that it reviewed and recommended several policy and regulation changes, including a new sunscreen policy focused on student health and privacy.

Miss Melendez said the new policy will be discussed at a second reading at the next board meeting and that more information will be provided to families. The policy is intended to allow students, with permission, to bring and self-apply sunscreen at school to support sun safety.

Committee members also reviewed other policy areas including business operations, personnel and student privacy; the committee said recent court decisions informed some future policy changes.
