District staff told the York Suburban SD board that bidding interest for the intermediate school project has been strong and that work on the high school design is continuing, with a milestone target of schematic-design completion in September 2025.
Chief Financial and Operations Officer Missus Ginting said bids for the intermediate project were released Aug. 11 and a pre-bid conference was held Aug. 18. "Today, 23 bidders have requested drawings with no less than four potential bidders from each of the core prime contracts," she said, adding that a steady stream of requests for information suggests "a substantial interest" in the project. Missus Ginting said K & W Engineers submitted land-development drawings to Spring Garden Township on Aug. 21 and that outstanding township comments had been addressed to the district's knowledge.
Key scheduling steps presented to the board include the pre-bid conference on Aug. 18, submission of land-development drawings Aug. 21, a planned bid opening later in August, a Springs/Garden Township supervisor meeting on Sept. 25, and a plan-review milestone scheduled for Oct. 13 "if all things go as planned," according to staff. For the high school, designers (identified in materials as Stepback and Sadavia) continue site and building design work; staff said they expect 100% of schematic design to be completed in September 2025 and that design teams are coordinating with Crabtree on site work.
A board member asked for copies of materials distributed at the pre-bid conference and for clarity on the request-for-information (RFI) process; the board requested the Q&A log from bidders at the close of the bidding process. Staff said the district will provide those documents and that procurement contacts have been active with interested prime and subcontractors.
No formal board action on the projects was taken at the meeting; staff said updates and next steps will return to the board in future packets.
