Council approves Grater's restaurant development plan at Belmont Place

Delaware City Council on Aug. 25 approved a development plan and associated resolution (25-60) for a Grater's restaurant and drive-thru on about 1.234 acres in the Belmont Place planned mixed-use area.
Planning staff presented the site plan, explaining the building would be approximately 2,600 square feet with a drive-through window on the north side, an outdoor patio and 38 parking spaces (35 required). Full vehicular access will be from Preakness Way with cross-access to an adjacent outlot. Staff said the landscaping, lighting and four-sided architecture meet the mixed-use overlay requirements and recommended approval with standard conditions.
No public comments were offered at the hearing and the applicant was not present. Councilmember motions to approve passed on roll call with all members voting yes: Miss Griffith, Mr. Haines, Mr. Hoffman, Mr. Reiter and Vice Mayor Schaffer.
Ending: Staff said the plan fills the last remaining outlot in Belmont Place and will proceed under the conditions approved by council.
