Governing board accepts donations, amends minutes and approves consent agenda

At its Aug. 21 meeting the Paradise Valley Unified School District governing board unanimously approved several routine business items, including acceptance of gifts and donations and the amended minutes of the Aug. 7 meeting.
The board highlighted recent donations: Desert Shadows Elementary PTA gave $2,500 for library chairs at Horizon; AIA provided more than $1,000 as a flag-football grant; Echo Mountain Intermediate received $1,000 in rewards for students; the Paradise Valley Schools Education Foundation provided $1,200 for a JAG summer school session; the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics gave $3,000 for in-service supplies for math teachers; and the curriculum department received a $5,000 donation from the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation for the district’s robotics/STEM program.
Board members moved to amend the draft minutes of the Aug. 7 meeting to correct roll-call and motion attributions: they corrected the board clerk designation to Dr. Lim and noted that Dr. Lim (rather than Mrs. Christiansen) moved a prior item. Those minutes as amended were approved unanimously. The board also adopted the meeting agenda and consent agenda after moving one consent item (F6) off the consent list for further study.
All motions for these routine items passed unanimously with no recorded abstentions.
