Planning & Zoning members reported progress on a draft renewable-energy ordinance and confirmed a technical review meeting with SolSmart for Aug. 18.
"We have a meeting scheduled for August 18," the committee’s acting chair, Marsha Hidenfeld, said, noting delays tied to staff availability. She told commissioners she circulated SolSmart materials in advance and expects the consultant, Sarah from SolSmart, to identify gaps and advise next steps.
Marsha asked Commissioner Malia Collins to pare back certain chart items (for example, elements the group previously agreed were unnecessary) so the committee can focus the SolSmart review on substantive points. Marsha said the committee hopes to bring revised materials into the next work session for further discussion and possible decisions on draft language.
Brian, a committee member who has been working on the energy item, and staff will meet with the consultant before the work session. The committee intends to update town council after the Aug. 18 conversation so council members have material in advance of their own deliberations.
No formal votes were taken on ordinance language during the meeting; members described the Aug. 18 consultation as a technical review step toward a draft that could be presented at a future work session.
