Board recognizes SROs, First Bank donation and School Nutrition award ahead of school year

Pulaski County School Board and district staff used the meeting to recognize school resource officers, acknowledge a community donation and highlight a School Nutrition Program award.

District staff thanked a list of school resource officers by name for their work in schools and invited them to receive certificates. The district read a roster of deputies and officers assigned as school resource officers at specific schools and noted a supervisor role for Lieutenant Stuart Melson.

First Bank’s representative, identified as David, came forward and the district said First Bank had collected more than 4,800 school supplies for Pulaski County students and contributed $2,500 to support the upcoming school year. "First Bank has collected over 4,800 school supplies and items from Pulaski County Schools ... the bank is very proud to contribute $2,500 in support of the upcoming school year," a district presenter said.

The board also recognized Jessica Morrison, Director of School Nutrition, for a statewide Virginia School Boards Association recognition of the district’s after-school meals program, which provides free snacks and suppers to participating students to extend meal access beyond the school day.

These recognitions were ceremonial; no formal board action was recorded associated with the recognitions in the meeting transcript.
