Winnebago County schedules Sept. 10 auction for multiple county parcels including Sunnyside property

Winnebago County staff announced an auction scheduled for Sept. 10 to sell three county parcels: the Sunnyside property (including a gravel pit pond and roughly 50 acres of farmland), a parcel grouping the two large shops and the Forestall Garage, and two salt-shed parcels including a dome and open-sided coal shed. The auction will be live online in September and is expected to be open for roughly a week.
Staff said they held an open house for the shops last week and that about four interested potential buyers attended. The county’s realtor has been contacting prospects and marketing the parcels with local advertising, mailers to city ZIP codes and posts on the county’s Facebook page and website. Staff noted another commercial building in town is being auctioned around the same time, which may affect local buyer interest.
Staff reported the Sunnyside gravel pile has been drawn down over the summer and is expected to be substantially gone within a year. No board action was taken; staff will continue to work with the county’s realtor on pre-auction marketing and logistics.
