Appearance Commission forwards two renewals and two new nominations to town council; board elections tabled

The Selma Appearance Commission voted Aug. 18, 2025, to forward two member renewals and two nominations to the Town Council and to table internal board elections.
Commissioners accepted Florence Rayner’s application for renewal and voted to recommend her nomination to Town Council. They likewise accepted Janette Smith’s application and will submit her renewal for council consideration. The commission also voted to forward nominations for Jody Seiler and Debbie Gaskell as candidates for two open seats on the commission.
Commissioners then voted to table the board election process internal to the commission. In each case the motions were moved and seconded and recorded as “Aye.” The meeting record shows members who abstained from a particular vote were asked to excuse themselves when appropriate (for example, applicants stepping out during consideration of their own renewal).
