The Arizona State Transportation Board took several formal actions at its Aug. 15 meeting in Graham County.
The board approved the consent agenda on a motion by Board Member Bruce Bracker, seconded by Board Member Howard; the motion carried unanimously.
The board approved PPAC (project modification and new project) items 7a through 7f as presented. The motion to approve was made by Board Member Howard and seconded by Board Member Pesh Lukai; the board voted unanimously in favor.
On construction contracts (agenda item 10), the board followed staff recommendations and awarded the four recommended contracts (items 10a–10d). The motion was made by Board Member Bracker and seconded by Board Member Howard; the motion carried unanimously.
Agenda item 10e — a curve realignment project in Yuma County — was rejected after staff determined a substantial error in the DBE requirements in the bid documents. The board rejected the single bid and directed staff to rebid the project; the motion to reject was made by Board Member Ted Maxwell and seconded by Board Member Bracker, and it carried unanimously.
No other formal votes were recorded on the floor during the meeting minutes presented.
Why this matters: The awards move multiple construction projects into contract and out to contractors; the rejection of 10e ensures procurement documents will be corrected before a re-advertisement.
