The Polk County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 5, 2025, unanimously approved the day’s meeting agenda and the minutes from its July 29 meeting and noted the Polk County Fair was scheduled to begin the following day.
The approvals were moved and seconded and passed by voice vote with all commissioners present, the board recorder said. No members of the public spoke during the period set aside for comments on items not on the agenda.
During brief floor remarks, commissioners discussed local fair logistics: staff said exhibits could be brought in the day before the fair and that animals arrive in morning and evening sessions on fair days. A commissioner said that several county officials, including two named in the meeting transcript, would serve as judges for exhibit categories and the event billed as a “monster cookie” contest.
The board took no other formal action during the portion of the meeting captured in the transcript and then adjourned.
