County staff: federal grants helped fund Tigard safe-parking and senior housing projects that won national awards

A county presenter said the office won an innovation award for a safe-parking program in Tigard operated with Just Compassion and multi-year Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding, and an affordable-housing award for a senior housing project developed with Northwest Housing Alternatives that used HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) funds plus local support. The presenter said both projects also received additional support from the county and the city of Tigard.
Staff said the awards recognize the role of federal funding administered through the county and that staff will accept the awards at the awarding group's annual conference next month. No board action was requested at the work session.
The county presenter framed the recognition as evidence of effective use of federal funds for local programs and noted staff would provide formal acceptance at the upcoming conference.
