"This agreement spells out that Vicksburg takes care of all their medical needs," a county staff member said; the staff member added that legal counsel built in language to protect the county.
The board voted to authorize the sheriff to execute the MOU after a motion and second; members answered "Aye" and the motion carried. Board members noted the arrangement will not accept juveniles from Vicksburg and that inmates with active medical requirements must be cleared before transfer.
Staff described the contract terms in public discussion but did not provide the full executed MOU text during the meeting. The sheriff, who did not speak during the public portion recorded here, will be authorized to sign the document on behalf of the county.
