Kootenai County accepts state and federal airport grants to upgrade runway lighting

Separately, the board accepted an FAA grant amendment adding $98,480 to AIP Project 58 (Runway 6/24 and Bravo Taxiway). Staff requested and the board approved the acceptance of the award and posting the amendment amount to the airport budget; the FAA award requires a cash match of $5,471.11 from airport fund 30.
Why it matters: the LED conversion is intended to reduce bulb replacements and maintenance needs while modernizing airport navigation lighting. Acceptance of the FAA amendment adds federal funds to a previously approved capital project and commits the airport to the small local cash match.
Next steps: airport staff will execute grant agreements, update the budget to reflect the FAA amendment and proceed with procurement and project scheduling.
