District affirms Americanism/Rule 10 assurances; principals sign annual statements

Shireen Siri said the district conducts a public hearing in January each year under the Americanism law and follows up with a public meeting as required; the July 10 presentation served that follow-up. Siri described the district’s “toolbox process” used to vet curricular resources for bias and cultural appropriateness, teacher involvement in curriculum selection, and specific programs that support required components such as English-language proficiency programming and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
Siri said principals sign an annual statement attesting the school-level steps required by Rule 10 have been completed — for example, confirming observance of specified holidays and that the pledge of allegiance and related items are presented in the schools where required. The signed assurances will be placed on file in district records as part of the district’s compliance documentation.
