City will fund two of seven outreach positions; council asked for program details

City staff told councilors the outreach program under consideration includes six outreach workers and one supervisor (seven total), and that Syracuse will fund two positions — roughly one-third of the program — while the county funds the remainder.
During the study session a councilor asked whether the city had received percentage results from the county. A staff member identified as Chief said the information was “hot off the press” and explained, “the program itself is, 6 outreach workers and 1 supervisor for a total of 7. Ours, we’re funding 2 of those positions, so it’s about 1 third.” The chief said they would email the detailed breakdown to councilors.
Councilors also agreed to hold a separate related agenda item (item 21) so members could review the program policy before voting. No formal vote on funding occurred during the study session; councilors requested the administration circulate the county breakdown and the program policy before a future voting meeting.
Staff noted they would provide the percentage data to the council via email and that item 21 would remain held until members had a chance to review the policy and supporting information.
