The district staff said they will seek contributions from local businesses and foundations and provide district‑sponsored transportation where possible.
The proposal also calls for a staff role focused on monitoring equitable access and pathway enrollment and for diversifying CTE advisory boards to include parents, alumni and students from underrepresented backgrounds.
Staff said they are in talks with the J.A. Taylor Foundation to pilot a 10‑week industry trades course for 11th and 12th graders at Dixon High School and Maine Prairie; the pilot would include one two‑hour session per week (instruction, meal, and industry expert time) followed by opportunities for job shadows and internships. The item was informational; board members expressed support and asked for a process to nominate advisory committee members for fall meetings.
