Madison County supervisors voted Aug. 4 to award the Loring Road bridge contract to Fordyce Construction for $800,906.50 and to reallocate funds from the county's Local System Bridge Program (LSBP) account to pay for the work.
County engineering staff and the state aid engineer recommended the lowest compliant bid from Fordyce. The board authorized the board president to sign the board order to move $936,100 from Madison County's LSBP fund for use on the project.
The county engineer said bids were received from four contractors and that Fordyce's bid was the low, recommended award. The motion to award the contract and transfer the funds passed by voice vote.
The board did not discuss a detailed project schedule or contract start date in the public record at the meeting; staff advised the board that the action authorized fund movement and contractor award and that further project-level coordination would follow through the engineering office.
