Superintendent: North Brandywine, Reeseville on schedule for Aug. 25 opening; district highlights teacher pipeline program with West Chester University

At the July 22 Coatesville Area School Board meeting, Superintendent Dr. Brocic gave a summer update on construction and district programs, saying North Brandywine and Reeseville schools are progressing quickly and that North Brandywine is on track to open for students on Aug. 25, 2025.
Dr. Brocic said “the air is on, and the paint is already completed, the first coat, all the classrooms,” and reported that classroom furniture for North Brandywine and Reeseville arrived earlier than expected. She described interior work—casework, whiteboards and cubbies—being installed and contractors completing exterior brickwork and epoxy flooring in bathrooms.
The superintendent also noted progress at the Dough Run project, with foundations, stairwell shafts and elevator work underway. She directed community members to the district’s website construction updates, where photos are being posted regularly.
In programming news, Dr. Brocic described a West Chester University summer program intended to “grow our own teachers.” Two seniors named in the meeting—Catherine O'Neill and Rosalind Rincinkos—participated in a weeklong course that granted college credit. The superintendent said those students, and others in the program, will be able to earn further credits during their senior year and may be eligible to continue to West Chester University for teacher preparation while returning to the district for student teaching if they maintain the required GPA.
Dr. Brocic said the district held an administrators’ retreat and will expand community communications now that a new communications specialist has started. She also reminded the board and public of committee meeting(s) on Aug. 12 (with a special board meeting to follow) and the regular board meeting scheduled for Aug. 26 at 6:00 p.m.
