County manager outlines possible Golden LEAF grant submissions; no approvals yet

In manager reports, a county staff member told commissioners on July 21 that Golden LEAF Foundation community grants are accepting proposals and that the county manager may submit up to four projects for initial informal review. The staff member said Golden LEAF may award up to three projects and that awards can be as much as $1.5 million per county project, but that there is no guarantee of funding.
Staff said the program focuses on economic development and job creation and that county stakeholders and local groups have expressed interest in potential submissions. The manager’s office will submit informal concepts by Aug. 4 for Golden LEAF review and follow with final applications by Sept. 8 if the projects pass the informal review. Staff said they will return to the board with recommended project submissions and requested feedback before finalizing applications.
