MAPS staff: supportive-housing RFP deadline extended amid federal grant timing; local provider seeks explanation

At the Aug. 7 MAPS for Citizens Advisory Board meeting, Brandy Voor, executive director of Ocarta, asked why the deadline for MAPS 4 RFP 2401 (supportive housing) was extended from the original July 30 deadline to Sept. 3. Voor said Ocarta had submitted a proposal by the original deadline and wanted to know what led to the extension and whether the review timeline or process had shifted.
Brandy Voor said: “We submitted our proposal under the MAPS 4 RFP 24 0 1, by the original deadline. That was July 30. My question is, to the board, if you could share what led to the change, of the shift of extending the proposal dates to be submitted by September 3.”
MAPS staff responded that the extension was prompted by feedback from potential applicants who said they needed additional time because federal grant timelines and funding commitments were still shifting. A MAPS staff member said the RFP had been issued previously and that the office is focused on “doing it right and making sure we get the right people,” noting the agency was willing to provide extra time to prospective applicants rather than rush selection. “We’re not in a hurry to get this done as much as we are concerned about doing it right,” the staff member said.
Voor said Ocarta appreciates the opportunity and may revise its submission. Board members and staff acknowledged federal grant timing is affecting multiple projects. No change to the board’s project scope was recorded during the exchange.
