County to circulate proposed solid-waste text amendment after Sun Companies plans C&D transfer station

A Public Works staff member said the proposed facility would require a Maryland Department of the Environment refuse disposal permit and that the company proposes a permitted capacity of about 750 tons per day of nonhazardous construction and demolition (C&D) waste, which would be separated on-site for permitted processing, recycling and disposal. The staff member said the fiscal impact of the facility is currently unknown.
The Board of County Commissioners voted to direct staff to forward copies of the proposed text amendment to the appropriate county departments, state agencies and adjoining jurisdictions for the statutorily required 60-day comment period under Maryland law. The motion passed unanimously.
