Board of Public Works approves three stormwater maintenance agreement amendments for local properties

The West Bend Board of Public Works on Monday approved three stormwater maintenance agreement amendments tied to recent property improvements and changing stormwater management facilities.

City engineering staff member Max explained each amendment as part of the board’s routine permit oversight required under the city’s MS4 permit with the Wisconsin DNR. The three actions were:

• SWMP 6-87, amendment 1 — 411 North River Road: The property owner constructed an addition and additional paved areas and installed a new stormwater biofilter basin containing 18 inches of engineered soil after the original stormwater plan was not implemented as designed. The board approved an agreement requiring the property owner to maintain the new facility.

• SWMP 17-05, amendment 2 — Good Shepherd, Decorah Road: The property is replacing an existing pond with an underground stormwater storage-and-treatment device; the board approved an updated maintenance agreement for the new best-management practice.

• SWMP 17-10, amendment 1 — Wigle Ware, Schmidt Road: Work to reconstruct a south parking lot and perimeter pavement reduced paved area overall but required a total suspended solids removal facility; the board approved a maintenance agreement to ensure long-term upkeep.
