Geary County officials certify canvass, confirm six candidates advance to November

An elections staff member reported to the meeting: "We are back, and we are done. Jo has brought me the results, and I she stayed in there with me while we tabulated those, and we have printed the new results. So according to the canvas, the results of this election did not change. 15 ballots were casted in. We can tell that in our total ballot cast here." The staff member said the results and audit will be posted on the county website and that a recent audit found no discrepancies.
The canvass listed the top six candidates who will advance to the general election with vote totals provided by staff: Terry Butler, 506; Sam Yoskowitz, 371; Robert Laster, 311; Jim Erman, 303; Joe d Markley, 283; and Kelly Nintzik, 283. The staff member read the results aloud and noted the county conducted an audit with the supervising judge, which showed no discrepancies.
A commissioner moved to certify the candidates. In the meeting record the commissioner said, "So moved. I'll second. It's been been moved and silent to certify the candidates this morning. Aye." The motion carried by voice vote; a roll-call tally was not specified in the transcript.
County staff indicated the canvass results and audit report will be posted on the county website.
