Chesterfield County Council approved multiple staff recommendations at its August meeting, awarding a detention-center health services contract, approving a waterline construction bid for the county’s industrial park, declaring sheriff property surplus and confirming a planning-commission appointment.
Staff recommended and council approved a contract to Southern Health Partners (option 1) to provide health-care services at the county detention center in the amount of $227,920.
Council also awarded a bid for phase 3 of the waterline at Ranches River Industrial Park to Corbett and Son Construction LLC in the amount of $273,250. County staff said the project will be funded from remaining SC Locate grant dollars, remaining ARPA funds and so-called UTC 2024 monies; staff emphasized these funds will cover the cost and that the general fund will not be used.
Heather, a county staff member who presented the items, told council the sheriff’s office requested the declaration of certain equipment as surplus; staff reported that data-bearing devices had been wiped or would be destroyed before disposal. The council approved the surplus declaration.
On appointments, Councilmember Smallwood nominated Kevin Davis to the Chesterfield County Joint Planning Commission; the nomination was seconded and approved by voice vote.
During discussion of the detention-center contract council members noted the contract amount represents a modest increase from prior years; no substantive change in the scope of services was reported during the meeting.
All four staff items were approved by voice vote after motions and seconds recorded on the floor.
