District staff told the Committee of the Whole on Aug. 11 that the new-staff orientation will be held the week before students return and will welcome recently hired teachers and other employees.
Mr. Francis said the event — scheduled for Thursday of the staff week — will include a welcome to the district, mentoring information from the Livonia Education Association, lunch and professional training on de-escalation protocols provided by SCC. The event is intended for a broad range of new employees, including teachers, paraprofessionals, secretaries, bus drivers and other staff.
Francis said the orientation is a “fun day” and an opportunity for the district to present information about Livonia Public Schools and for new hires to meet colleagues; the board’s members responded positively.
No action was required from the board at the Committee of the Whole meeting.
