Board members said a ribbon-cutting is planned “on the 26th at 4 ahead of the first day, on the 27th,” and staff said the ceremony is intended to be outdoors. Facilities staff briefed the board that while interior systems required for instruction will be operational, ongoing site work will continue and that the new bus/parent traffic pattern may not be complete until later. “The entrance… where the bus used to come in… won't be completed for the opening of school,” a facilities representative said.
Officials warned families that bus routing and parent drop-off will be impacted during construction. Staff urged parents to use bus transportation to avoid long delays; one administrator said parents who drive may face traffic because buses must be unloaded before parent drop-off.
Staff said the soccer field will be rebuilt after site work and estimated it could take almost another year to complete; personnel circulated a parent notice asking middle school families to prioritize bus transportation during the transition. The board did not vote on facilities actions at the meeting; staff said more detailed capital-project status information will be provided at a future meeting in September.
