Bond projects near completion; final inspections set before school start

District officials reported Aug. 11 that work funded by the 2025 bond at Johnson, Buchanan, Grant and Churchill High School is progressing, with health and fire-marshal inspections scheduled and a dashboard update planned for September.
Brian Weber and district staff told the Committee of the Whole on Aug. 11 that bond-funded work at multiple schools is nearing the end of summer milestones and that final inspections by health and fire authorities are scheduled in the coming weeks.
Weber said the district has made “good progress” on large milestones, with heavy work in LMCs, kitchens and bathrooms that had not been touched in decades. He said lessons learned from prior years improved execution this summer and that the district will present a dashboard update on schedule and financials at the September meeting.
Weber also said sinking-fund projects such as paving and roofing continue alongside bond work and that the district plans to host site visits with board members so trustees can view completed enhancements in person.
No formal board action on specific bond expenditures was recorded at the Committee of the Whole meeting; officials said they will continue to monitor schedules and complete inspections before students return.
