The Madison Common Council on Aug. 5 granted a new Class B combination liquor and beer license to Red Lobster Hospitality LLC for a restaurant at East Town Boulevard following a public hearing and brief questions by council members.
Vice President Govindarajan moved to grant the license; the motion was seconded and there were no objections after short comments from Alders. Alder Madison said she and the Madison Police Department had discussed the owners and had not encountered issues, and Alder Knox asked whether this application related to a prior license nonrenewal for a different establishment; legal staff clarified the item was for Red Lobster and not for another restaurant.
The council recorded a unanimous voice vote granting the license. A registrant, Karen Marquis of Browntown, Wisconsin, was listed as speaking for Red Lobster in the agenda but did not appear in the chamber or on the phone when called.
