Douglas County commissioners approve consent agenda, set recess and move to executive session
Summary
The Douglas County Board of Commissioners approved the consent agenda (items A–G), approved minutes and claims, noted an Aug. 19 hearing date, and entered executive session for litigation, legal advice, contract and labor negotiations.
The Douglas County Board of Commissioners convened Aug. 5 and approved routine business before moving into a closed session for negotiations and legal matters.
At the opening of the Board of Commissioners session the board approved minutes and claims (items A and B) by voice vote. The board then approved the consent agenda items A through G after Commissioner Mark LaFleur requested item H be pulled and tabled. Commissioners announced the board will be on recess the week of Aug. 12 and will return Aug. 19; a Community Services committee meeting was scheduled at 1:30 p.m. the same day.
Chair and commissioners then voted to enter executive session for labor negotiation, contract negotiation, legal advice and litigation; the motion to go into executive session passed 6-0. The board reconvened later, took a motion to adjourn and closed the meeting at 12:17 p.m.
Ending: The board’s public actions on Aug. 5 were largely routine approvals and scheduling; the substantive non-public business was handled in executive session under statutory authority for discussions of litigation and negotiations.
