During the public‑comment period at the Aug. 6 Cerritos Planning Commission meeting, resident Linda Troxell told commissioners her home at 19118 Stephanie Avenue had been uninhabitable for seven years because of hazardous building materials and asked the city to intervene.
"My home my home is poisoned. It needs needs to be fixed. It can be fixed. It is a toxic mess," Troxell said in remarks recorded on the meeting transcript. She said a third party had provided documentation and photos to Council Member Jennifer Hung and that she had sought assistance for more than a year.
Staff said they would collect Troxell’s contact information and pass it to the appropriate city staff. The meeting clerk noted the Planning Commission’s public‑comment rules, and the chair extended her speaking time so she could finish. Troxell repeatedly asked to see Council Member Hung but was told council members hold separate meetings.
No formal agenda item or code enforcement action on Troxell’s property was discussed on the record during the meeting; staff said they would transmit her information and follow up after the meeting.
The commission did not take formal action related to Troxell’s complaint during the Aug. 6 meeting.
