Le Mars City Council set a public hearing on Aug. 19, 2025, at noon for plans, specifications, form of contract and estimate of cost for a rebid of the downtown traffic signal modernization project, and scheduled a Sept. 9, 2025 bid opening at 3 p.m. with award to be considered at the Sept. 16 meeting.
Staff told the council the project was rebid after the city rejected bids at its May 20 meeting. Stanley Consultants revised plans and specifications to improve bidding results by increasing the schedule flexibility, breaking some lump-sum items into unit prices, and adding grading details to reduce ambiguity for contractors. Staff also said they reached out to suppliers and prospective contractors to increase the pool of bidders.
Administration proposed a project budget of $1,127,500 to be funded by the city's local option sales tax. Council approved the hearing and bid schedule by motion.
