Tacoma bulletin: library strategic-plan survey, South 20th Street reopens, pools and parks summer programs

The Tacoma Public Library is seeking community input to shape its next five-year strategic plan for 2025 through 2030 and invited Tacoma residents to take a short online survey available in English and Spanish by Friday, August 8. The library said feedback will inform goals for programs, collections and services and directed residents to tacomalibrary.org.
South 20th Street between Jefferson and Pacific avenues reopened to traffic following upgrades tied to the Prairie Line Trail Phase 2 project. Phase 2, launched in 2024, includes trail construction, sewer upgrades and full pavement restoration; work on Hood Street between South 20th and South 25th streets is expected to finish later this year, linking the UW Tacoma campus to the waterfront trail.
Parks Tacoma announced outdoor pools and spray grounds are open for summer. Candle Pool and Stewart Heights Pool are open through Labor Day; adult lap swims in the morning cost $5, children ages 4 and under are free, youth ages 5 to 17 are $8 and adults are $10. Parks Tacoma also promoted free Shakespeare in the Park performances of A Midsummer Night—s Dream in August, the Mosaic Arts and Cultural Festival in Wright Park on July (two-day schedule referenced), and low-tide tidepool exploration events at Titlow Beach on July 23 and August 9.
