Steven Pippen sworn in as Brentwood city commissioner

The Brentwood Board of Commissioners administered the oath of office to Steven Pippen at its meeting, swearing him in as a city commissioner.
County Mayor Rogers Anderson administered the oath. After repeating the oath language required by the city charter, Pippen was congratulated by the mayor and other commissioners. Pippen later addressed the commission and attendees, thanking family, planning staff and longtime friends and asking for patience as he learns the duties of the office. “I just want to take a brief moment, on a personal note just to say how humbled and honored I am,” Pippen said, and asked for “a bit of patience… and a whole lot of grace” as he gets up to speed.
Vice Mayor Ray Little nominated Pippen for the city tree board later in the meeting; that nomination was seconded by Commissioner Donahue and approved by the commission.
Pippen replaces a seat on the planning commission he previously held; commissioners and staff thanked him for his past service on the planning commission and for continuing to serve Brentwood in a new role.
The oath included standard language pledging support for the U.S. and Tennessee constitutions and observance of the City of Brentwood charter and ordinances.
