Danville announces multiple staffing changes, bus pilot and facility preparations ahead of school year

Operations presented staffing and operational readiness updates for the 2025–26 school year, including named principals and assistant principals at several schools, continuation of a student ridership pilot and a district‑wide readiness action plan.

Miss Hilton identified new school leaders the board will see this fall: Sherita Williams as principal at Arnette Hills Elementary School with Gary Lawson as assistant principal; at Activate, principal Bridal Scott with assistant principal Tabitha Cash; Gibson Elementary School assistant principals Sarah Turner and Kelsey Tunstall; Westwood assistant principals Cameron Stone and Daryl Owens; and GW High School assistant principals Cassandra Fleming and Ryan Russell. Miss Hilton also said Dr. Rosie Spann Johnson will be principal at Rise Academy and that Hope Adams will serve as a bus administrator overseeing bus discipline and after‑school program oversight at Glenwood.

Operations emphasized a Park Avenue student ridership pilot started in January and continuing this year, which uses student badges and lanyards for bus check‑ins, cafeteria use and library transactions. Miss Hilton said the pilot “is a great way to document the usage and where our students are at all times.”

Miss Hilton noted the district has moved from monthly to weekly to daily readiness action meetings as the school opening approaches; each department signs off on assigned tasks. She specifically asked board members and visitors to thank custodial staff for preparing school sites.
