Huachuca City schedules National Night Out and back-to-school fair; police display vehicles bought with grants

Huachuca City Police Chief Wyatt Berry said the city will host a combined National Night Out and back-to-school fair at the town complex, running from 6 to 7:30 p.m., with free haircuts beginning at 5 p.m. The event will include booths from local and federal public-safety agencies, school "meet the teacher" activities and donations of backpacks and school supplies.
"It's gonna be from 6 to 07:30PM at the town complex behind town hall and the haircuts start out at the library at 5PM," Berry said. He said the event will feature representatives from area law-enforcement agencies and federal partners including Customs and Border Protection and Drug Enforcement Administration personnel, as well as local fire departments and health organizations.
Berry said the department will display new patrol vehicles purchased through grants and town leasing: three vehicles acquired via a Department of Emergency Management Assistance (DEMA) grant totaling about $300,000, two 2023 Tahoes funded by Operation Stone Garden grants, and one leased vehicle dedicated as the school resource officer car. Berry also described a paid part-time officer program the town began to supplement shift coverage and retain certified officers at lower cost.
The chief thanked local donors and organizations for supplying food, school items and volunteers, and invited all residents to attend the free community event.
