The Placer County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a proclamation designating August as Child Support Awareness Month and recognized the county’s Child Support Services for what supervisors described as strong performance.
Supervisor Jones pulled item 12A to highlight that Child Support Awareness Month emphasizes the role of child support programs in supporting children and families. Jones said the department helps establish paternity, set and enforce child support orders, collect and distribute payments, and ensure compliance with court orders. Jones also noted that the county’s Child Support Services has been ranked number one in California for multiple years; Jones said, "I think is this the fourth or fifth? Sixth year," reflecting uncertainty about the exact count.
Supervisor Dimitay said he would attend the department’s event on Aug. 6 to read the proclamation at a client‑focused celebration. No public comment was offered on the item. Supervisor Jones moved approval of the proclamation and Supervisor Gustafson seconded; the board voted in favor.
The proclamation is largely ceremonial: it recognizes the month for outreach and highlights the department’s services and achievements. The board did not authorize any new funding or policy change during the vote.
