The board approved agreements to offer seats at the Kanesville Learning Center (an alternative/learning center) to students from nearby districts within a 50‑minute travel radius, administrators said.
District staff said the arrangement will allow neighboring districts to purchase reserved seats for students who need an alternative schedule or accelerated programming so they can complete credits and graduate on time. Participating students remain residents of their home districts and any earned credits will be recorded back to the sending district for graduation purposes, staff said. The district previously offered similar arrangements with Underwood Community Schools and paused new agreements while Kanesville operated near capacity; administrators said recent capacity increases made the expanded offering possible.
The board approved the agreements by roll call. Staff said the district will execute memoranda of understanding with interested districts and that the Kanesville Learning Center remains governed by district staff and policies.
