Trustees flag data issues in school plans for student achievement; staff to correct before approval

Director Grigsby presented the 2025–26 School Plans for Student Achievement (SPSAs), required for schools that receive Title I funding. Grigsby said the plans are compiled from the state data platform and local needs assessments and are intended to be living documents reviewed with site leadership teams throughout the year.
Trustee Sellers and other trustees noted apparent discrepancies in front-matter enrollment and demographic tables for some campuses and requested additional checks before the documents reach the board for approval. Grigsby explained the data pipeline: Aeries (local student information) -> CALPADS (state data system) -> CDE templates; some errors appeared when East and West campuses previously shared a single CDS code, which duplicated counts. The district’s Aeries coordinator, Chad Godfernan, was named as the staff member responsible for uploading to CALPADS.
Trustees asked that site-level principals and district staff review and correct any inaccurate tables and asked for a stronger checks-and-balances process before the board vote. Grigsby said staff will work to correct any errors and return the item for action on the next agenda.
